Winter Solstice Gathering
In this month of our Think Outside campaign, we celebrate the theme of Peace by inviting our fellow residents to join us in community-building outside. Our parks and greenspaces provide widely accessible places where all of us – regardless of politics, race, religion, nationality, sexual orientation or other marker of difference – can build a citywide movement for environmental justice for all. Please join us in this effort to lift up all voices and reclaim our lands for greater community health and vitality.

Please join Washington Parks & People in celebrating the Winter Solstice, the shortest day of the year. We will gather at the Josephine Butler Parks Center at 6:30pm on Tuesday, December 20 to celebrate all the ways that we can be part of helping the light return to communities across our city and beyond. All will be welcomed to light a candle and walk with us across the street to Meridian Hill/ Malcolm X Park, a hub of arts & culture for surrounding neighborhoods and for everyone in DC. Afterward, we will gather by the fire in the Parks Center for free hot cocoa + holiday cookies. Come as you are.
