Washington Parks & People is hosting park walks & clean ups throughout the city to celebrate the 100th birthday of the National Park Service! Join us for a day of service & light refreshments at Marvin Gaye Park or Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park!
- Park Clean-Up: Marvin Gaye Park, 9AM-4PM
- Park Clean-Up: Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park, 11AM-1PM
- Park Walks: See details below, 4:00PM-7PM
The walks will interweave large and small local and national parks with points of community heritage and pride. In keeping with this month’s theme of Parks & People’s Think Outside campaign, the walks will highlight issues of park-based community justice that need everyone’s help. Both walks are free and open to all, handicapped accessible, and easily reached via Metro. The walks are not athletic challenges, but will keep a steady pace of 20-25 minutes per mile. There will be water/bathroom stops at the midpoints of both walks.
