Green Corps members receive training and work experience in urban forestry, landscaping, park maintenance,
environmental restoration, and community greening. The program combines classroom instruction with supervised field
work to prepare participants for long-term employment in environmental and construction-related fields.
In addition to technical skills, the program emphasizes teamwork, communication, workplace readiness, and leadership.
Participants are supported by experienced staff and mentors throughout their term of service.
Green Corps is open to District residents who are interested in environmental work and committed to personal and professional growth. The program prioritizes individuals who face barriers to employment and are seeking pathways into stable, meaningful careers.
Participants gain experience through projects such as tree planting, invasive species removal, trail and park
improvements, and urban agriculture support. Safety training and industry-recognized credentials may be included as
part of the program.
Green Corps also exposes members to career pathways in environmental conservation, parks management, landscaping,
construction, and related public and private sector opportunities.
By investing in local residents, Green Corps strengthens neighborhood parks while building a workforce equipped to care for public spaces long-term. Projects are selected in collaboration with community partners and focus on areas with the greatest need for greening and maintenance.
